Completed frame pics....A Question??

Here are a few pics of my frame. It is complete to the point where it's going outside for the winter. Sadly, there will not be room for it in the shop this winter. My body etc. will need to take it's place. I am going to wrap it with tarps/plastic the best I can. It sucks, but it IS just a frame lol!

I still need to either fix my wiring, or find nos stuff. I also need to find a front tank for it and a few other things. Essentially though, the frame/suspension segment is complete.

I do have a question though. Does anyone Know, or have photos of the factory e-brake calbe routing? I put new rear cables in, and I am wondering how they were routed/supported? thanks in advance!

What setup are you going with for the brake cable routing?

4x4 with both tanks? etc.

uh....I just ordered two replacement cables. They snap into the backing plate (obviously) on one end, the other end snaps into the cross member in front of the rearend. (see third pic). I am assuming they don't just hang between the brake plate and the cross member unsupported??? On a side not, I think I am missing the bracket that connects the rear cables to the front one?

is this the pic you are looking for? I may have the connector for the 2 into 1
looks real good so far!

...if I remember right I think there was a spring that hung down and connected to the rear e-brake cable?? not sure though

maybe the charger should go out? only kidding, my GTO isn't going out either!

You wanted photos of the factory brake cable routing...I"ve got the factory illustrations, hence my asking for the setup you want to go with.

After looking at the pics, I see you are missing the springs that hold the cables by the rear axle. They often get rusted/thrown away.

There are also bushings which support the cables. This is the only support. From the divider to the bushings on the crossmembers, the cables need to be taut. It would appear you have the wrong cables or I am not looking good enough, I see too much slack on the cables.

What is the story on the smashed-in '97 F150 tailgate?

Can't you just take the tires off and flip it up against the wall ? It wouldn't take up much room then. I think thats a '67 GTX ? Is it anything special ?

the snow/rain will not hurt the frame as long as it is done correctly. It is the salt that is goin to hurt it.
What the hell happened to that F150 tailgate next to your compressor?

Jermefenser ..........YES the setup is going to be 4wd with DUAL tanks.

hhmmmmmmm. As for the brake cables. I have another 78 4wd sitting out back, and it's intact from the cab floor back to where they hook together........Just looking for pics/illustration of how they were routed/supported between the backing plate and the crossmember?

Jermefenser.......I ordered the cables through o riley auto for a 78 f-150 4wd reg cab long box. Could you post the illustration? Any idea if you can still get the springs/bushings? I'll post a better pic!

As for the GTX..........The shop, the gtx, and everything in it are my oldest brothers. I am currently living there cause I moved back to town and am not sure what my next move is. The "GTX", my dad bought new in 1967. However, It is NOT a real GTX. It was bought new as a sport satellite with 383, 4-speed, 3:23 rears and buckets w/counsel. He was hit by a drunk driver in the early seventies and bought all the GTX "parts" when it was fixed. It has the original motor/trans etc still intact. Very fun to drive especially after we finish putting the 4:30's in!

As for the tailgate......My dad buys and sells alot of trucks etc. He has two trucks with wasted gates. (no idea what happened). I bought two repros, to paint and switch the guts out. I should really get those done....lol

'I had the frame powdercoated. I wire wheeled/sand blasted everything else and sprayed it with EverCoat paintable undercoating.

As for the cables......thanks. It appears there are just springs that hold the cables to the upper shock mounts??
