need help!
First IDI was an '85 F350 cab/chassis, 2wd Long wheelbase, 6.9/T19. Needed body work, brakes, and other misc. stuff- cost me $500.
My second IDI is an '85 F350 Cab/Chassis, 2wd Long wheelbase, 6.9/T19. Identical to the first, but with a nice body and only needing to swap my flatbed over from the other truck. Cost me $900.
I've since stripped the first and have shipped it to the scrap yard. Every useable part was kept.
Last night my dad spotted another IDI-'86 F350 cab and chassis, 2wd short wheelbase, 6.9/T19. We didn't hear it run yet, but it has a remanufactured engine and a new radiator. Those alone are worth more than the $500 asking price.
I'm flat out HOOKED on the IDI's. I'll never own anything different. For the price of them, buy 'em if you got the room. They can be repaired for way less than the purchase and repair of anything new.

Its rare to find running 6.9s around here for that price but it does happen from time to time. They are always rusted and thrashed though. I guess if the whole trucks are so cheap to buy then you could always just get another used engine if one breaks down.
I haven't checked wreckers lately, but I think the 6.9s are going for about $1000 (just the engine).
Its a little more isolated here on the island though and chances are in the vancouver area prices are probably lower. Its a beautiful place to live, but the market can be limiting.....
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
CDR = Crank case Depression Regulator
This is the diesel equivalent to the PCV valve in a gasoline engine. It prevents crank case pressure from blow by from building up in the engine, and separates most of the oil mist from the blow by gasses to help control oil consumption.
If this valve doesn't work properly, larger amounts of oil will be ingested by the engine. Its said that in rare cases, it can let enough oil into the engine to cause a runaway condition. Most of the time it only causes high oil consumption though.
