The zf5s have the bellhousing built into them, like an auto tranny. You need a zf built for a diesel.

A 4x4 will be hard to find, it has to be a diesel, but it doesn't matter what transfer case was behind it.

If you are going from auto to standard, you need to find a place to get everything all at once. I just bought a 92 2wd ZF5, and cannot use it on my truck. my truck is a 91 and even tho its a 2wd, it used a 4wd tranny and used the transfer case for an optional PTO setup. So I need to repair my transmission or find an earlier 4wd ZF.

If I go to ez pull Near me I can get everything I need for $160 but If I cant find the trans there it could cost about 200 for the trans itself. (I have connections with alot of the yards)
