I use fel-pro intake gaskets, part number 1240, and no valley pan.
I bet some of my valves are starting to look like that, my compression is 80-95 now on all 8 cylinders, and i never blow any smoke...... Ahhhh, cheap valves and 4 years of on and off nitrous use. Still runs like a champ, just has low compression readings....
Do you have a photo of the complete head, because i was noticing that the exh valve next to that one didnt look like that one did.....
I got a report from the machine shop (finally) today. They said the head with the burnt valves needs all seats replaced as well as obviously the valves. Cost $300. They recommended starting with another set of heads. The other head, what I thought was the good head, has a crack in it in the rocker area.
They also told me that one head had been replaced before, the one without the burned valves. They said the casting numbers were different, D4AE on the burned valves head and D1AE-A1C on the one with no burned valves but a crack in the rocker area.
So, I guess I hunt for a set of heads at this point.
A friend of mine had a set of heads I pulled from a very rusty engine in his shop. Casting number looks like "D1AE". I would have to use the springs from my other set of heads due to rust. Maybe have to replace all the valves. Don't see any obvious cracks or burned valves.
