Well I have been battle my truck running on 4 cylinders now for awhile. I have checked and replaced all the wiring under the valve cover, pig tails, gpr, gp's, I ohm tested all the wires in the injector harness from the idm to the injectors and at the injectors. also got a IDM too. I am ready to burn this thing to the ground. only the driver side bank works passenger side does nothing except compress air. #3 injector is the only injector on the pass. side that has oil comming out of it while its running but if you unplug the injectors nothing changes in the way it idles. Today however I did get some new codes out of the computer but I dont think they have anything to do with it but I am probably wrong, Got a P0113, P0472, P1280. when I goto datasteam and look at hpop pressure says i have between 525-600 psi at idle. I cant really drive the truck but if you rev it up to 2500 rpm got it over 2000 psi but went back down.
wut Jim said. if you swap the injectors then you will know if it's electrical. you could have a few injector solenoids fried, but who knows. i'm keeping an eye on this thread.
hmm thats a good idea.... I am pretty sure the idm is good.i dont know another truck that i can try it in.i'm pretty sure it good. I would think its pretty impossible to swap IDM's and get the exact same results
Ohm the injectors and look for one that is just a little off from the rest. I had an issue with a work truck that Rick helped point me in the right direction on. One injector ohmed out around 0.5 or 0.7 lower than the other injectors from a bad soleniod. The bad solenoid caused the IDM to shut down the entire bank.
When dealing with an IDM issue, you have to clear the codes at each injector you unplug so it's not still stuck in safe mode (or whatever it's called)
Questions If i have a bad injector say I think its #3 could I unplug it before I start it up and would it run on the other 7? cause I have done a couple of buzz tests now and #3 keeps coming up I get code P0267 Injector circuit low cylinder #3. What does that code mean?
well i did that cleared codes and unplagged #3 injector .....and bam started up on 7 cylinders awesome .....whooohoooo ....but wait so i let it run a bit and bam back to normal so i shut it off did a buzz test and got injector #1 now so unplugged that and nows runs on 6 cylinders looks like i need new injectors solinoids.
Also have another thing when i bring the revs upto 2500 rpm it starts billowing out whiteish blue smoke think that could be head gaske? or injector o-rings?
I think I'd address the solenoid / injector issues you know about first. Sounds like you've got at least 2 solenoids not functioning properly. I would assume the smoke was a result of that until you get that corrected.
