The other day my passenger side window stopped rolling up. It will still roll down though. I can hear the motor running but the window doesn't move. Whats the usual culprit in a situation like this?
The little plastic rollers in the motor gearbox have gone bye-bye, easiest just to replace the whole motor for $28.00 off Ebay............1/2 hour job including drilling the access holes to the mounting bolts.
That sucks. I've replaced a motor before so at least this wont be a new experience. The last time though, the motor just stopped working entirely. I need to pull the door panels to install some new speakers anyhow.
I replaced those plastic rollers before with 3/8 nuts(or app sized nut,rod ect), as long as the gear is not cracked, that fix works. I got my 89 wired for power windows ,motors and gearbox installed, they worked 2 times then had to fix them rollers, next day, stupid motor went out on pass side! Rotten luck...
I had to replace my passenger motor twice before I got one that's stayed operational. I don't know if maybe there's been a fault with these motors or not.
Get a new motor and make sure to grease the roller tracks and oil the cranking mechanism.
Never had a problem with the motor , just the plastic rollers , i think its a safty thing in case you roll the window up with your head sticking out you wont get decapatated , the rollers will break instead ???? Lew
You can also go to Ford and get a rebuild kit for the motor. I've had to do this twice to my Bronco, once for the driver's side, once for the rear window.

Yeah, good one, Lew. :)
I've been figuring they made that weak spot for a good reason
and that just might be it. LOL :)
I say, just look in the "HELP!" stuff and buy new plastic lugs.
After you got the motor out to replace it, you've got it mostly
whipped anyway might as well fix it for cheap?
My driver side is doing the same. I went to buy the "gear kit" and they are $29.99 locally. Went on Ebay and found a brand new motor (not rebuilt) for $28.00 shipped.
So when I get paid tomorrow im going to order the whole new motor.

Holy cow, look at that price. LOL :)
You can get the same dangged things for ~$4 any place auto parts are sold.
That's all it took to fix my '91 Bronco's rear window. YMMV
