hey,
what do you think looks better, one of those magnetic antennas or dual whips? i just bought a new pickup, and got my CB put in and then stopped, since i didint really want to go drilling holes in the bed just to attach my whip antennas.....do you think a magnetic one might look weird?

I personally do not like whips (7 or 8 feet long I mean), or duals. I run a Wilson 2000 with a magnet mount on top of my Explorer. The Wilson is on a quick release where I can take the antenna on/off without have to unscrew it. On my Ranger, I have a steel plate mounted in the corner of the bed by the cab, with a Mark Mount on it, another quick release, and a Predator or 5X5 Francis.

But that's my opinion...

Only problum with magnetic ones is that sometimes you wont get a real good ground with them, just a thing to keep in mind. BTW i like the looks of duels, as long as they aint those 8 ft long ones...

I solved the magnet ground problem by running a ground wire from the connector to the rear hatch bolt on my X. Use a shielded wire, and run it on conjunction with the coax.

Has anyone ever tried...or make a bracket that fits a whip antenna that fits in the stake pockets? I think it would look pretty cool to have two 4 ft whips in the rear stake pockets. Can run the wires in the whole right next to it and out. Any ideas?

hey,
about the stake pocket design, i considered this and opted for drilling right behind my cab, but, the rigs ihad set up to hold my whips were just pieces of 1/8" metal welded to fit the pocket with the top drilled and fixed up with an antenna mount (you know, the little bolt assembly) i ended up not liking them at the back of the ebd, too much intereference if i was loading something in, ya know? anyways, it definitely will work if you want to try it

hey,
pretty sure I've got the Mazda.....my transmission code is M on the door panel tag. is the zf an aftermarket type thing? mine is holding up fine so far, 85,000 miles on it, no leaks or anything, all the gears go just fine, no grinding or pickiness.

PS: ssaw some REALLY COOL antenna mounts today at the college, im gonna ask the guy where he got them or who made them or whatever, theyre pretty frickin sweet looking.....they were mounted o the inside of the bed rails, but were real small and it looked like he jsut had his antennas on this bed, real sweet.

The ZF is a ford tranny used on the 250s and 350s. Some made there way into the 150s.

MustangGT221,
As far as I know, the trannies used in 250s and 350s is made by the Ford plant in Sharonville, OH. I work in the ZF Batavia plant, formerly the Ford plant in Batavia, OH, and we make the tranny for the Ford Escape, and the Mazda Tribute.

F-250 SD XLT CC 4x4 Shortbed; MAAP nerf bars, Rally/Lightbar combo, PIAA 1300 driving lights, Lund bugshield, Lund SunVisor, tinted windows, K&N airfilter, Access tonneau cover, Rhino Liner, remote starter/security system, custom built console, Cobra 29 ST/WX CB with a Wilson 1000 magnet mount antenna, Realistic 500 channel police scanner, Kenwood 10 disk CD changer, Compaq laptop, SVP 100 Watt siren, and 24 Strobe lights.

Upgrades for the near future include: Warn Rio Grande pushbar with a 12,000# winch, 4" lift kit, fender flares, and 35" BF Goodrich T/A KO tires.
