Question 1998 Mountaineer Power Antenna to Standard Whip

We have 1998 Mercury Mountaineer. The power antenna has broken again. I would just like to replace it with a regular non power standard whip antenna. What all is needed to swap it out?

Upon further investigation, it appears that the whole assembly and cable as well as a bracket need to be changed. I have all the parts coming, but could use a picture of the orientation of the bracket.

Is this the bracket you're referring to?

Yes, that looks like the one I was referring to. I don't know if it is the same or different between the two styles of antennas.

Is it possible to access this by simply taking the inner fender loose at the rear, or does it have to be removed?

To remove the antenna assembly you need to remove the antenna base cap (top of fender), remove the nut below the base cap, then remove the fender liner, the bolt at the bottom of the bracket, lower the glove box door, unplug the electrical connector and the antenna cable, push them in to the engine compartment, and remove the antenna assembly from the wheel well area.
