the 05 v-10 is running good and running strong, wish i can say the same for the ecnomey. so right now im not hauling and rv's anymore. rv sales tanked. so i parked her until something happens. its looking it be while, notherless i still have it. ive been red thread bout a v-10 vs 6.0. its like this. 6.0 is rated at 325 hp im thinking around 550 to 600 tq. [im sure some body nos the correct tq numbers]. the new v-10 is rated 357 hp and 462 tq the older v-10 was rated 310 hp and 425 tq. yes they had spark plug problems im thinking it was ist yr when they bump the hp and tq after the 99s [275 hp and i think 375 tq]. the newer older v-10 seem to pretty good. the older v-10s got better fuel milage. as for the newer v-10 have been pretty bullet proof wif hardly any issues. somebody told me a while back that newer v-10s had crank and bering issues and that was the only person that me that. just one person that told me that after speaking to lot of v-10 owners. auto dont get as good fuel milage as the manuals. autos seems to get a tick better fuel milage towing then the manuals, but the differance isnt really noticeable. we look at the 6.0. it had all kinds of issues in the 1st yrs models. ford seem to correct a lot of the problems before done makeing them. 6.0 got better fuel milage, but u loose the benfits if breaks down. i had one small problem wif my v-10. it was hadache to find it. once found it solve the problem. miss fire at 265,000. so there u go so there u go. it probly be while before we will see 400,000. wif my 4wd cc 05 v-10 6 spd 4;30 8 ft box.
i have also v-10 06 cc 6 spd 4;10 6 f box almost 15,000 later
well sounds like you are having great luck with your truck, the most miles ive racked up were on a 84' f250, about 240k and 15 years before i traded it for landscape work ! ive heard alot that the modular engines will run strong till around 300k miles or so, i have a couple vehicles with the mod. engine but just dont put serious mileage on them anymore, anyways good luck !
I am new to the V-10 I have only had mine for a week, we took a long trip already in it (empty) it was awesome what a truck the 2009 is a thing of beauty, I sold my 6.0 and will never look back too many problems. Your truck storey is great 350,000 I will not drive that in my lifetime but I am glad to here the truck could, I will have my camper loaded on in a couple of weeks to give here a good test. V-10 power
Snowtoad, glad to read your good experience with the truck. These mod engines are pretty tough as long as you keep up on the preventive maintenance. I've have two 5.4s(99/05) 240,000/199,000 miles and now my v10 with 48,000 miles and they are tough trucks. These gas engines are tougher than folks think.
I looked into it a few years ago and could not see how anyone could make any money delivering trailers for a living. Based on my spreadsheet, after the truck payment, fuel, insurance and maintenance I would have been forced to sleep in my truck to realize any profit at all.

Guys do it, but as a former Tractor trailer owner... I would like to realize a profit, which I didnt understand how. A couple friends went out, after Katrina, bought new PSD's and then 6 months later... sold them, files bankruptcy...
I guess you can make money at it, but factor in mileage, and depreciation, I forgot about it...
I am kinda wondering if there are any high milleage tuned modulars out there. Thinking about the SCT. Everyone always says how the tune will not only increase power, it will get better or just as good mpg, and help the motor last longer. If this were all true than why does ford not tune em that way to start with? Usually things are tuned down a bit for reliability so thats why I wonder if the claims are true. I absolutely do not want to sacrifice reliability/longevity. The other thing would be emissions, not sure how the tuner affects emissions. Dont really care about emissions though, but perhaps thats why the ford tune is crappy.
Most people with a tuner, are beating on there engines LOL not all. Emissions are claimed to be effected, because the tuner mfg says he is only allowing the engine to operate more efficiently. or giving it a better cumbustion, threw air fule ration, and timeing.
I dont believe there are many high mileage engines out ther , that have original components from the factory, that have HiPo tunes. I knwo if I see a truck with one in it, or even guess it had one, I walk on by it...
The big thing with the tuner is to change the WOT fuel and spark.
Ford has the V10 stay in closed-loop at WOT so it stays at "stoich" (optimal fuel mix for emissions). With a tuner, it goes open-loop so it can run a bit richer, getting more power, and cooler, letting the motor live longer if you sit at WOT for extended periods (like towing uphill).
Not sure what that does to emissions, or the life of the catalytic converter
WITH, not wif. Sounds like you got a good one. I think the bearing issues on the newer engines are probably the result of Ford specifying a lighter weight oil trying to help the fuel economy ratings.
