Does anyone have any experience with "N-Fab" running boards?
I mistakenly ordered my '09 F250 without any steps. Personally, I dont mind not having steps or boards. But the wife and the majority of other people who frequently ride with me have great difficulty getting in/out. A nearby truck accessory shop is quoting me $450 for a set of cab length bars.
I don't know anything about these other than they look way better than the basic Westin bars that many people have on their 2wd Chevys on my area... as if those trucks weren't low enough! I'm curious of any experience and/or feedback before I plunk down nearly 5 benjamins. Thanks.
We had a set on my wife's Expedition for years, until it was sold. They are great quality and mount to the factory holes, so no drilling. They provide a nice sturdy step (no flexing). The finish wore better than the OEM black step bars on my truck. I will get some N-fabs when mine get too ugly.
I am looking for some too and N-Fab was on the top of my list so far. They make a 6-step version that goes from wheel to wheel and has a 3rd step infront of the rear tires so you can reach over into the bed. Online you can get the 6-step one for about $450 (not sure what shipping was though). Some of the other 6-step ones I have seen were almost $1000
I've often wondered how hard it would be to just make your own out of some steel pipe, and have it Line-x'd. I was thinking of designing one that had another smaller diamter tube about 6" inboard and take some scrap aluminum diamond tread between them (I have a few 8' long scraps) and also have the drop down tubes. So basically combining the N-fab design with the protection of running boards from road debris. I'd probably try it if I had to pay $1k, but $450 I might just buy it.
I had the worst time with N-Fab. I have a 2008 F250 CC. Ordered the bars with no problem . When I tried to install them there holes on the bars didn't line up with the on the truck. I emailed N-Fab to see what can be done. Was told by the CEO of N-Fab I was installing them wrong.
So I had my father help he happens to work for Ford at a stamping plant and doing metal work over 30 years. Same problem holes didn't line up. Emailed again was told same thing I'm installing wrong. To drill out the brackets on the bars there would be nothing left on the bracket. For over 2 months I emailed this so called CEO and having him tell us were stupid and don't know what were doing. I was able to get he to take the return. Only after contacting the BBB.
Anyways I would never order anything from them. I went with Go Rhino. And love them.
I picked up a set of 5'' wide stainless steel running boards for my 08 250 cc on e-bay for about $300.00 the local store quoted me over $600.00. I don't care for the round bars, too easy to slip on them.
