Post your MPG
I think the title of the thread was obvious, and you didn't have to open it just to act tough and belittle other members while you hide behind your computer screen.
There sure are a lot of member that make themselves feel better this way on this forum.

I wasn't trying to be rude, well maybe a little, but only after everyone else started chiming in after I had posted the links (go back and read my first post - not rude, just informative). Once they were posted there was no need for this thread to continue.
I did all the hard work of searching and filtering for you, you can relax now.
You say there is no reason to continue with it, but here you are "contributing". why is that?
Why do some of you care so much about duplicate threads? Do they give you nigtmares? inflict emotional stress? distract you from MEANINGFUL threads? Im curious?
I for one don't mind reading it, you never know when someone might make some out landish claim, or have some NEW ideas/techniques they are trying.
I agree with recoil, I see NO reason why some of you need to complain about duplicate threads.......why do you care?
When i see a thread I don't care about or is duplicate I simply pass over it. Easy enough.
Let me wrap it up for you. If you own one of these trucks you will get between 6 and 14 mpg (those are the outside limits, usually it's 8-12) unless you're doing something really different to change this (like getting rid of 1000 lbs and/or running a 6 cyl). I don't understand why this conversation comes up so often. If mpg is so important, buy a car!
Sorry about the rant, but I really believe that this is one of the least worthwhile conversations we could be having.

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I also notice that some of the people on this forum who complain about people complaining, haven't even been around here long enough to see what the first group of people was complaining about to begin with. That's why they don't get the joke. This is a FORUM, on the INTERNET, and in case people haven't noticed, complaints make up about half of the material on the web. The only reason it's less common here is because it's a technical board. I personally don't mind new threads; I really enjoy helping people and welcoming new users. But I have the right to have a chuckle with a few people when some of the patterns are so obvious. My complaint in my first post wasn't new threads; it's people who blindly respond to a thread without reading any of the posts above it. It's very irritating to spend time typing out a response to help someone with a problem, only to have some guy paraphrase the same thing you just said a page later. (usually with much worse spelling and grammar, just saying...)
When the content on a forum is constantly the regurgitation of the same ten questions, it makes the forum seem like it's too new. That makes it seem like people are constantly leaving, and that no one sticks around. Most of the time, when I see someone tell someone else to search for something, they're not doing it because they're trying to "belittle" the person; they're trying to help. They're doing it so that the user knows there is such a search function, because there's a wealth of information stored in the over 10 years that FTE has been around.
As for this thread in particular - I do agree that it can be over-whelming to sift through all the search results, and sometimes it's just better to have live conversation. Most of the time, the stuff you're reading in a searched thread is written by someone who is no longer here, and you can't really ask that person a follow-up question. I think the reason there seems to be so much tension about gas mileage in particular is because there have been several users in the past (I'm not implying this is anyone here) who expect their gas mileage to be in the 20's, with no intention of accepting the responsibility of driving a refrigerator on wheels. The general consensus around here is that gas mileage is pretty much the last priority with these trucks, because most people's is in the single digits. If your truck gets 6 miles to the gallon, a 50% improvement is still only 12 mpg. Both of those numbers suck. That's the background story there.
Come on FMC you know better lol, a 50% improvement on 6mpg would net 9mpg, it would take a 100% improvement on 6mpg to net 12mpg, just for the record i get 8mpg.
For the record I get 9-12 MPG.
Josh
1 gallon max, it's 150 feet from my garage to the road and 2/3 of a mile around the track twice.
Yep, I don't get a gallon a mile.
