Who do you think ends up paying the money for the trade ins? Tax payers. Thats not FREE money it has to come from somewhere. I have been told that the dealerships have to pour acid into the engine and trans to destroy it internally. How true that is I dont know, but that still sucks A$$!
How many people who could not afford a new car, bought them on CARS? Will we see an influx of bank repo and turned back vehicles in the upcoming months? Just some things I have thought about.
Bingo! I've been wondering the same thing myself...

It's more of a "glass solution" in the engine. They were using a "sodium" salt solution in the engine, but it was taking too long to get the engine to lock up, and besides that the engine would still be rebuildable after the process.
The liquid glass solution they "should" be using now destroys the engine quicker and also hardens in the oil galleries and internals making the engine un-rebuildable.
I believe they are still using the sodium chloride solution in automatic transmissions.
Not sure, but are they making manual transmissions inoperative as well?
But you have to wonder, how much emissions are they creating by making engines run until they blow/ lock-up? Or needlessly driving around the parking lot trying to get the tranny to sieze?
I swear our government is a bunch of retards anymore.

Oh hell, I can just see someone getting their hands on some of this stuff and going on a vandalism rampage by pouring this stuff in people's engine's while they're sleeping or something... Call me paranoid but this is inspiring me to expedite the removal of the locking hood latch mechanism from my Econoline to put on my truck...
The other thing that burns my a$$ about this whole clunkers thing is GM, or as I refer to them now, Government Motor Company. The execs got fat off bail outs, and then they get to sit back and reap the rewards of the CARS program like everybody else?
On a sidenote, do you suppose somebody should say something about a dentside so this doesnt get moved to a different forum? LOL
I remember when I was a little kid somebody went around and poured sand into a few neighbor's engines. My dad was pretty worried because he drove a Jeep CJ7, which have no locking features whatsoever. He has even had his battery stolen a couple times.

Don't say that! Now it probably will happen. lol My truck came with the "protection option" which would mean that everything had locks on it. Dealership must have taken it off or something.
I will see if I can get my grand parents to send me a picture they live in Sheridan Wyoming while I live two hours away. But as things go this is a horrible program
people need to take back your country, and stop these buffoons, because the U.S. sets the stage for countries like Canada, thus we are heading towards the same type of program, vote wisely in 2010, and in 2012, that's all i will say,
If we make it that far I think that there will be a revolution if this new health care bill passes to any Americans who have not read this thing send me a PM and I will send you a link to some excerpts to the first 500 pages.
Another example is my father in law saw I think it was a 1987 Ford F250 5.0l no this truck would have been a good upgrade from his 82 but they refused to sell to him because of a 1500 fine he even offered 3k for it
And despite what some dealers are doing or what some network news likes to portray, but the traded in vehicles ARE NOT TO BE CRUSHED. Only the engine and drive train are to be made inoperative. That's it.
The vehicles here are they remove the engines from them use their glass solution and put the engine on a dyno stand until it seizes and the bodies are sent to a local car crushers who recycle the varies metals from them
these are some sad times were living in!!! what will you do when big brother says you can no longer drive your beloved classic ford on public roads because their ugly polluters???...........oh & welcome to the beginning of the end of the American empire.
