My transmission is starting to slip, not all the time but more each day. I called a transmission mech ( a friend ). that works on these tranny's all the time. He said it was time for a tranny rebuild and the cost would be 1500.00 for a complete rebuild not including TC. His warranty is 3yr or 30,000 miles. I told him about the BTS tranny for 4000.00 and the life time warranty, and that it was supposed to be 1 of the best tranny out there for this truck.
He said for 4000.00 he would give me a warranty like that to.
I know this guy and he does have a good reputation where I live. But I also read alot on here and alot of you seem to know what you're saying.
I have the money to go ether way, I just want to make the right choice.
depending on what mods you plan on doing to the truck, I would say go with BTS. I do npot have an automatic but i have read many posts on them and BTS trannies. I don't think that anyone can do to a tranny what they can do to it.
I have 195000 for mileage. He quoted 850.00 for a new 3 stage TC. He recommended the 3 stage because I just bought a 32' fifth wheel.
I plan on keeping the truck for a long time. If the engine takes a dump I will buy a new engine. I can't see buying a new 45000.00 truck.
Slipping symptoms are: every now and then when I go somewhere, after I have been parked, I will get in, put it in gear and nothing (all 3 gears) after I sit for 5 minutes it will slowly start to go. It has'nt done that for the last 3 day's and I have put about 500 miles on it.
Aklim: His price with 3 stage TC is 2350.00. Tranny=1500.00 TC=850.00
as far as stock rebuild, he said he would build it to pull my RV. So I'm not sure if it would be stock. As far as the TC goes, a 1 stage TC which is in it know from the factory would be stock.
His warranty for that price is 3 year or 30000 miles. I am leaning towards letting him do the job because of price, warranty, reputation, Local.
I know BTS is a great tranny, just by all the comments on here, but if I can save 1600.00 and a trip to Ar. from CO and back. I think I have made up my mind. I just hope I don't regret it. The last thing I want from you all, is I told u so..LOL

A stock rebuild will handle what you are pulling without issue.
You can save $1600 but you don't have to make a road trip. He can ship or if you call him, he may have a dealer nearby.
I hope so too, for your sake. Even if you make a mistake, I doubt we would laugh in your face and tell you "I told you so". From what I have seen, people would try to help you.
Oh I know you all would still help, I was just kidding. This is the best site ever and I really enjoy it. I just have to go on my gut fealing, but I do thank you for the input

Scott, just a thought but Rocky at Rockin S Performance can install a BTS tranny for you - he's a dealer for Brian. He's in Ft. Lupton, CO which is a wee bit closer than Ark. Just given you an option.
