Ive got a 73 highboy and it has a HD dana 60 in the rear with 4:10 gears. The last time i rebuilt it i dont remember having the option to buy reverse cut ring and pinion. Are the reverse cut gears for a front dana 60? How do i now if i have reverse cut gears in the rear if possible? i've been out of the loop for awhile.
idk if either one of those are the same thing as what im looking for but it has to be just like the original 79 hi pinion dana 60
Welcome to the site.
We may be able to help you a little more if we know what you were working on.
Exactly what are you looking for?
The links you have posted are for high pinion D60 front axles but one is designed for an Early Bronco (coils spring, and you have to weld up provisions for radius arms, or links etc.) The other is for a full sized bronco or pickup, also with coild springs or similar 1/2 ton suspension.
78/9 front axles were leaf sprung, and these do not have provisions for leaf springs.
Original 78/9 axles can be used in just about any application but aftermarket axles such as these may not be so easy to use under a 73 to 79 F250 truck. This would require some pretty extensive fabrication.
These can be used under a later model ford with a wider frame and leaf springs but will require some weld on spring perches.
Ever heard of Kelderman air ride suspension lifts well that's what I need it for. I have a 09 gmc Sierra 2500hd 4x4 an as for all chevy 4x4 trucks now they have the independent front suspension (ifs) so in order to do the chevy Kelderman lift it requires an axle swap so you can get rid of the ifs. The lift is a 4 link system with 4 airbags it completely removes the rear leaf springs an the front coils/leafsprings and replaces them wit airbags. I talked to Kelderman an they used a 79 ford f250/350 hi pinion Dana 60 front axle they said that's what would work best so get one of those if possible but any hi pinion Dana 60 will work.
So that's it that's what it's for now I just can't find one.
