I was going to pick up my gooseneck trailer tonight, when a late model chevy trailblazer crossed the centerline and almost hit me head-on. I had just enough time to swerve causing him to hit me in the left bedside instead. Scary experience at even 40-45mph when your left front tire goes across the top of his hood. Hit my elbow off the steering wheel pretty hard but other than that I'm O.K. Guy was bad drunk ended up passing out in the middle of the blacktop before the police got there. First wreck I've ever been in, trucks not to bad probally could have driven it home but looked like the axle may have not been centered in the wheel-well a so I elected to have it towed. Craziness!!!
Good to hear that you're ok. I hate people who drink and drive. I never used to care in my younger days when I was foolish, but after being a volunteer fire fighter and seeing how stupid people are it definitely opened my eyes.
I hope they bury his A$$ under a jail somewhere in BF Egypt. I've had two very good friends killed by drunk drivers and have no tolerence or respect for people who drive drunk. The first was my best friend who was on his way back to our house from a Jaycee meeting. The drunk that hit him should have been legally dead from alcohol poisoning. His BA was .458 (yes that's correct) The second was a single mom who was hit by a 15 year old kid who's dad was passed out in the front seat next to him. Thanks to MADD that kid got prison time instead of just a slap on the wrist and juvey. He was on probation for drugs already. Dad got 6 years instead of 6 months.
glad to hear you are ok. hope that the truck is up and running soon. Don't be to quick to settle with his insurance company. you will need a truck rental and towing charges body work and maybe a doc check up for your arm.
All I am saying is think it all thru so that you come thru it as if nothing ever happened to your wallet.
$4400 worth of damage. Drivers side bedside, mirror, spring hanger, tailgate. No word from his insurance company yet either. Called mine the day after it happened and he said I should be contacted by his adjuster...Right.... Its going to hit the fan tomorrow. Being without your truck is like runnning out of T.P. Worst part of it is the truck was just had $6500 worth of bodywork done last October...GRRR.
I hate reading thread like this. I feel that the punishment for DD should be much more severe. I am glad that you are ok. Please take the others advice and have the truck gone over very well. Once you sign off on the claim, if something else pops up, they won't pay.
Glad You are OK and your truck will be too!! I myself just went through a simliar accident too and I'm still in the healing process. My poor 04 F-250 CREW CAB 4X4 didnt make it though." May she rest in peace". She, along with the "Lord Above" and my seat belt, I'm here today.
I was rear ended by a Dump truck hauling 20 tons of dirt for a highway project, on the highway and travling at 55 mph. After impact I was pushed across three lanes of traffic and through a construction barrier wall. It actually ripped the frame foreward.
I have been off work since the begining of July due to my injuries.
They should make texting and driving illegal as well.
Always remember to tell your loved ones you love them as it can all change in a second!!
I had to have my insurance pay me for my truck, as the Dump truck Co. insurance. wanted to give me wholesale pricing for a truck that was in show room condition.
I have since got me a new ride, 06 F-250 crew cab 4x4 Diesel, Ford has proven to me they are built Ford Tough !!!
Sorry to have rambled on-- Just don't settle until you are 100% sure you are OK.

Welcome to FTE! I hope that you heal up 100% and all goes well for you. Insurance companies love to take your money but when it comes time to pay out that is a different story.
Please don't feel the need to apologize for "rambling on" we all learn from each others experiances here good bad or indifferent.
Glad to hear you're ok.My buddy had a convertible 70 Buick Skylark for 18 years. He was coming home late one night from a party (his girlfriend was driving because she didn't drink), and she pulled over to the side of the road because he was sick. Right when she did that a kid rear ended the car ripping the whole quarter panel off and totaling it.
The kid got arrested, and my friend went to court only to find out the kid had killed a guy up on a ladder working on a telephone pole a year earlier.
When are they going to stop giving these guys second chances.unreal
