You must remove the pan and valve body.
Once inside the pump is removed by prying between the front drum and pump body.
I have used a "knife" to pull them on occassion.
The body can be tapped for a slide hammer type puller.
Care must be taken to assure nothing falls out of place as/when the pump is being removed.
