Cash for Clunkers value

I'm just wondering what would prevent a dealer from raising the price of their new cars or removing all the super deals they had before the program started which would put you back to square one?

Nothing. This is the problem with reckless government spending such as this. Unintended consequences!

Additionally, I believe it was Edmonds.com stated that in the 3 month time period the program runs, 200,000 cars would normally be traded in that meet the gov't requirements. The program has funds for 250,000 cars, so in reality it is only driving 50,000 more cars into dealerships. that equates to a taxpayer cost of $20,000 per additional vehicle. Not much of a stimulus IMO. The program should of had a longer time period, even if it meant a lower incentive per vehicle.

Nothing. I guarentee you many are doing that. This C4C thing is no real deal. Dealers ran minimum trade allowances around here long before the goverment stuck there nose in the car industry. The dealers are going to make money where they can.

The Chevy/Toyota dealer around here has quit taking them because he has dozens of people who have not received their money and are ticked at the dealer. Saddest thing I saw was this morning on Good Morning America, they showed a nice 90s 5.0 Mustang getting crushed. I'd surely have taken that car...

Dont worry everyone, I'm from the govt and im here to help!!!! now mr/mrs tax payer assume the postion cause we need more money for bullcrap programs.
The way the past few presidencies have gone they increase the worthless unconstitiutional spending every year so dont worry the system will eventually collapse (sad to say but true. try to show proof otherwise)

but back to the C4C cause i know this isn't a political forum:

you know im more suprised that people haven't rented a car trailer and parked it out front of the dealership offering $4501 cash to all the "quality" vehicles for resale or personal use.

Have to better than going to a car auction in some cases from what i have been hearing has been sold to be crushed (not in all cases but some). Heck with some peoples "mentality" they will give up a 8000/9000 dollar vehicle for 4500 as long as the program is going on to buy a new one.

AGAIN, no political discussions in the tech forums. It's not about the CARS program itself, it's all about the inane comments about the gov't, healthcare, etc, that this thread must be closed.

You need to either post this in the General Automotive discussion forum (and it'll probably still get closed) or Club FTE.
