i was wondering if anyone knows of a good oil cooler, and a relocation kit for my filter....i have a trans cooler built into the HD radiator but the truck didnt come with a oil cooler...when towing 5000 lbs the temp stayed at normal operating temp but i want the extra security...thanks
You can find oil filter relocation kits in all the vendor catalogs. Be certain to use steel braided lines from the filter adaptor on the block to the remote filter mount.
I use the B&M stacked plate coolers for both transmission and oil coolers. That design acts as a bypass by using the oil viscosity when the oil is cold.
I vote for the braid lines. I used the rubber (?) lines and they started to leak/harden after a year. I don't trust them with my oil. Also my oil cooler wouldn't fit in front of the radiator/A.C. so I built a bracker and mounted it horizonal under the radiator with a small sheet metal scoop. I also used a thermostat fitting for the winter.

I also fabricated brackets under the hood to mount my trans/engine oil coolers. One is on top of the other with about 1" between them. A 10" puller fan is mounted on the top (engine oil) cooler.
My experience with rubber oil lines was almost a disaster. At 60mph one of them came into contact with a header and created an instant hole in the line. I almost lost control of the rig from oil smoke on the header, but got the engine shut down before any internal damage occured.
