Hey anyone know where the A/C filters are, and how often they should be changed...My A/C blows cold sometimes and then sometimes it will blow warm...any ideas?
I thought i remember someone saying that there was no AC filter on these trucks. I would like to know for sure myself,I'm sure someone that knows will be on here soon.
Are you referring to the Accumulator? Or the orifice tube? Technically they could both be considered a filter but that is really not the way they are designed. There is no need to filter freon, the system is held in vacuum until its charged so the only thing in the system should be the freon and the oil.
What he said elaberate a little more. And really ac is not somthing you should mess with unless you really know what you are doing and have the proper equipment. It can get expensive if you over charge the system or undercharge.
that would be a cabin air filter. these trucks do not have one, and if they did they do not make a difference on weather or not the air coming out is hot or cold.

do you have the electronic control unit? when it is blowing warm is it blowing 100% through the dash vents?
or can you feel alot coming out of the defrost vents?
Mine is our was doing the same thing thought the clutch was going out. but was informed by tech. today it's the compressor going out. I my self have no IDEA just a electrican not that sharp on a/c . he also said it needs a new condensor because when compressor goes out it shoots metal into the condesor is this true I do not know on a 03 6.0 may be somebody knows on here to help save little mony
no it is partly blowing through the defrost, when it first turns on it will blow 80% defrost then over time it starts blowing more out of the dash vents, i hope its not the ac going out how lame the ac is barely used

check the vacuum lines under dash on passenger side. you have a vacuum leak. i had the same problem. not sure what color the tube is. maybe someone else can confirm which tube is the one that is loose. but i had the exact same problem and i took it to the dealer and they said it was aloose vacuum line and the only ones i know of are under the passenger glove compartment.

yes its true. actualy the warranty on the compressor will be void if you dont also change the accumulator. the tank looking thing. the orfis tube should also be changed. it will have metal shavings in it to.

Agree, however I have never heard of the condenser having to be replaced? Sounds like someone wants to make an extra buck. I have , just for the heck of it, blown them out with compressed air and nitrogen before a pump down. Did this mainly when converting from r-12 to 134A to get the old oil out.
