I have an 89 bronco which has been sittin for a few years. It ran good until i blew the rear end up and it had to sit for a few months while i saved to fix it. Once i got it back together i only drove for a few miles when it just died. No sputter or anything. Checked and i had no fuel pressure. Couldnt find any bad relays or anything, so i ran a hot to the pump, i got pressure and spark but still wouldnt fire. Couldnt figure it out and i had another DD and no money so i gave up.lol I want to get it runnin again, but other then the bigger mess from it sittin, where should i start for the previous problem, im sure i missed somethin simple. Sorry for the ramble, but in doin this ffrom memory. If i cant figure it out, i might just swap to carb., and info on a good stand alone turn key ign. set up would be helpful also.
I cant remeber. its been a while since i messed with it, and since i look at it every day, i figured its time to start workin on it again. I will hopefully have time to take it to my shop this week, so ill get some more info for you to work with. I hadnt tried the starting fluid, but as of a few weeks ago, it still turned over and there was some spark
dont use starting fluid... Pour a little gas in the air cleaner box.. That will start it with out wrecking the cylinder. Gas fumes run the engine not the liquid...
Honestly... It has been sitting, I would seriously start with simply cleaning every ground up. Check the harness going to the fuel pump ect.
The relay for the fuel pump...
Start simple. DOnt make a mountain out of a mole hill.
Maybe even a mouse or somethin called it home for a bit??
recheck the relay marked electrical. pop the cap off of the relay itself and check for internal corrosion. This will also cause your fuel pump to stop.
Also check the fuel shut-off switch. Not sure where it is on an '89. My '86 has it top of the transmissiom hump on the passenger side. Our old '92 had it behind the passenger side kick panel. If the shut-off trips, the fuel pump circuit is disabled.
the shut off is on the 89 is behind the pedals on the drivers side. First thing i had checked. Still havent had time to work on it though. Thanx for all yalls advice
