The end of my gear shift leaver on my 1997 f-150 busted off on the end. The overdive little plastic cap broke years ago ( the button still worked). But now the next section busted off and I wanted to know if it unscrews or pulls off or even where to get a replacement. Has anyone fixed one of these before?
Thanks agian as always on the site. The heater core replacement procedure so rocked.

My end just started popping off last month on my 97 F150. I keep putting it back on but it does not seem to lock on very good. It does not seem broken anywhere. I was wondering if you could just get a new end piece also.
There is a small 2 wire harness that runs through the shift lever to the steering column. You need to pull the plastic off the column, unbolt the lever and unhook the harness. Then just replace the end piece in the reverse order. Probably a dealer only part.
The dealership also has the end piece for a couple of bucks (believe it or not you can leave the mortgage at home). Got mine 4 years ago and it's just starting to pop off again, going to use the super glue
well sounds like the dealer will be a good place then if it isn't to much since shipping is high.
also if you have a advanced auto around you then they might have it in stock or order it for you. just saying if you like to avoid dealers (found it in their online part section for $9.98).
