On my 2000 f150 5.4l 4x4 I ran over a log and jumped up and smashed the wiring harness along the frame rail into a body bracket behind the left front wheel. It cut or smashed most of the wires. It caused the od light to flash. That harness fed the fuel pump, rear lights, and the sensors and switches for the tranny and the rear end. Also blew the blue front fuse on the fuse panel under the hood. When I cut and put all new butt connections on the wiring, it would run but not in 4x4 high, had to go into 4x4 low, and the od light was still flashing. Through help on this board, I found the blown fuse and that fixed it. Someone said you can count the flashes in sequence to learn the code but mine didn't do that, it was just a steady on/off flash.
Check your fuses and then check the wiring going to your tranny and rear end. Could be something knocked a wire loose or pinched a wire or maybe water rusted a connection or maybe a bad ground somewhere. Let us know what you find out.
Don't even bother screwing around with automatic transmissions, you can make things worse. You could have a problem that the computer is compensating for and you wouldn't even know it. Either way bite the bullet and get it checked out, you don't want a simple fix to turn into a rebuild.
I have a 2002 Ford Explorer and its been overheating. I've replaced the thermostat and the housing for it...fan clutch and water pump. Still overheats at high RPM's. What can I check on now?
