Hey guys, I don't know if this is anything to be concerned about but as I pulled in I noticed the o/d light was flashing. I took it out of o/d about 2 days ago and it flashed for a little while then stopped. I took it in and out of o/d tonight and after 30 minutes it started to flash. Is it normal to flash some after being taken in and out of o/d??
i dont have an e4od but this usually means something is going to go somewhere. might just need adjusting of the fipl, friggin electronics. sorry to hear bro, hope its simple.
Edit, from reading around, the only reason it blinks is something wrong. You have to get the codes pulled so you dont just start replacing things!
I don't think its that big of a deal, if I remember correctly, It happened before and it stopped. I don't have hard shifting or anything and it is 15K miles old. I did spin the tires a few times for like 5 seconds each but I don't think that would hurt anything. Is there some kind of sensor on the IP I can adjust?
spinning the tires shouldnt bother it......theirs a throttle position sensor on the IP that can be adjusted I think, but im pretty sure that just controls when the thing shifts.....If the tranny aint doing anything weird, I wouldnt give it a second thought.
From what I understand there are only about 3000 things that can make this happen! Mine did it because the tach sensor was bad, the fipl can do it, I have heard word that burnt out tail lights can cause it, perhaps even the wrong kind of cream in your morning coffee! LOL. Safe play is to start with a code reader if you have access to one.
I guess I will have too, darn. If its not flashing tomorrow morning I think it coulda just been a quirk. I went through a couple big puddles so perhaps the connections got soaked. Ill see in the morning.
my e4od in my 1993 bronco had an od light flashing for a long time and i ignored it, when the torque converter and gearing grenaded and dropped the pan on the ground with shrapnel, i learned the hard way. id rather ya figure out its something small not than have major issues.
Also mine has done this and turned out to be just a stupid fuse number 8 but if that was it you would have no odometer or speedometer so probably not as simple as mine was
Better to find out and know for sure than than to wait for it to die just when you need it most. better to fix a small problem than to wait until it takes the whole transmission out.
To read the codes you need an obd1 reader.
