nobody seems to hang around in the clutch, trans forum anymore. posted there with no luck so heres my second goround!
heres the history. vehicle bought used with 19k miles, change trans fluid every 40k due for change within days (already have fluid changing tommorow) truck has 76k miles now. 04 f250 few problems ill start with this one
seems whether in pulling a trailer or not, trans doesnt want to downshift from third to easily. i really have to step on it to get it into second. how to fix?
- tq conv. locks up in second gear sometimes when im really stepping on it??? thought that 3rd and od only had lockup. then when it shifts to third, its already in lockup, it doesnt lockup before it shifts to od.
- brake pedal doesnt unlock tq. conv. as ive read it should. also when i have od off, itll chug down a hill, as if the converter is always locked. but the minute i push the od on button, no matter what gear im in, the rpms drop as if the converter unlocks. but this doesnt affect the brake pedal.

Anytime you get off the gas the TQ should unlock with the stock tuning. The TQ will ockup in 2nd but it takes a while. Most don't notice lockup in 2nd because they don't spend enough time in 2nd. Going from 2nd to 3rd, 3rd to 4th and etc the TQ should unlock everytime it shifts and then lockup again. To knock down to second sometimes you have to give it some throttle.
Might want to have the trans shop doing the fluid change check for codes in case your scanner isn't seeing them, which is possible.
