I had mine replaced recently on my 95 F350 and it cost me almost $800, $350 or so for the pump and the rest was labor for 5 hours work. If money is no object, have it done.
Matt:
If you have the hand tools and basic mechanical skills it's really not that hard. You do not have to pull the turbo to get this job done. Do you have a "Cali" truck?
Yes... mine is a 97 Cali truck... so tthere is a thing under the turbo that will cause issues from what im told...
FML.... i never can get a break... I have the tools (full shop basically), but I have Two mustangs in there right now, one without an engine or tranny that I need to put in.... The doing the work is not the issue, its more that I dont want to do the work...
LOL OK, I can't help ya in the lack of desire department. From the look of things (Mustangs) you definitely have the skills.
Even with the "Star Ship Galaxia" on top of the fuel pump it can be changed without pulling the turbo, but with the turbo out of the way it does make the job run smoother.
Good Luck
Will be seeing what it would cost to have it installed at my buddies shop... if its too much, I will have yet another vehicle down.... ugh But I will be deep in thought with this...
Hey matt, look here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ml#post4782663
THE TURBO DOES NOT HAVE TO COME OFF! I remembered the key was in the stubby swivel wratchet and the right socket. You can do it! Matt! Matt! Matt!
You can do it, it takes some time, and it is a PITA!! But be patient and save your $$$$ I did mine a couple weeks ago, and the toughest part was getting the banjo fitting back on. Went it from left side front, using left hand, and it threaded pretty easily. But that was after 2 hrs trying with right hand! Good luck!
