I think all the Xs and HD pickups are able to be gotten into by just cramming a screwdriver into the keyhole and twisting. Some people have disabled their keyhole lock and use their FOB.

My fear is that they would still damage the truck just trying to get in, so thought about replacing the 2 front door latches with rear door latches - no key hole at all. That way they wouldn't even try it.

I suppose if they are really bored and brazen that is. Too bad you cant wire 12V to the door panels...legally.

That was the disabling I was trying to remember that they did............no keyhole. They would probably reserve window bashing to remote areas. When I used to hike a lot in Oregon I saw about 20 cars with broken windows in one day. Another time I saw a lady pull into a scenic spot and I returned 15 minutes later and the windows were smashed out. I probably saw or saw evidence of 400 window smashes in the 15 years I lived there. Mine were never broken because nothing was ever showing. I had some fender washers in my console while parked downtown Portland one night and they thought they were quarters so they got in somehow and all they took was the washers. I witnessed another smash, called it in, and police arrived with guns drawn. They probably let him go because Oregon didn't have the money to prosecute and jail anyone unless it was an assault and battery or worse. You could steal a car and burglarize a house after you stole their mail and be on the street the next day and they even talked about it in the news. They even had a ex-pro car theif demonstrate how easy it was the steal a car on the news.

I have heard some people just disconnect the linkage for the locks so a screw driver or key won't work, I just wonder what to do if the battery goes stone dead.

I always thought a nice proximity alarm system would be cool, PLEASE BACK AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE broadcasted on aloud speaker before they can even touch your truck.

Some punk(s) recently SHOT my windows out (shot pass-side, but bullet exited drivers-side glass ) and stole I-pod hidden under center seat. Even with very dark tined windows! Police commented that no one could have seen anything inside my truck. All I can say is LUCKY ******* I did not show up while he was in my truck with gun. In GA, you can defend yourself with deadly force if you are threatened. "Officers, the man pointed his weapon at me and I unloaded my clip in him"

My truck was at a OHV trailhead, btw. Break-ins like that are very uncommon in my area.

Sucks, but no jimmy-jammers, keyhole eliminators OR alarms would have helped me.

I used to have an old skool sticker that said 'If you value your life like I value this truck - don't *uck with it!!'.

Yeah, but the plus side to that is that windows can be replaced on hours, without any paint/body work... my door will have to be strightened and probably repainted. Of course, due to color fade, they'll have to blend the paint half way down the side of the X - at least that is what they had to do the last time it happned. My X was in the shop for 4 days.

I know it's a pain but I store all I can in my rear AC unit.

I put things in my rear right side panel where the jack is sometimes like my expensive large format lenses when I am out hiking.
