I was in traffic yesterday in San Antonio, stop and go forever
or so it seemed.
Anyway, when I'd stop there was a clunk or something like it was "catching" up.. Again at start off, not every time but nearly. I put it in low and still it happened, I was thinking
TC or tranny but in low isn't the TC locked ??
Any ideas or suggestions ??
my guess would be the driveshaft. its pretty common in these trucks. they are two piece driveshafts and over time the splines loose their grease and stick when they should be sliding freely causing them to bind. try taking the rear driveshaft off and greasing the splines
... in my older '96 Suburban. Mechanics suggested using vaseline as the lubricant, which is what they used in the dealer's shop. I haven't experienced it on my F250, but the symptoms sound exactly like those on my 'burb.
I had the same sound in my dually, turned out to be the spare tire was lose in its well, and as i accelerated,it clunked back against the well. Just something else to consider.....Good Luck.
