I am like to get some subs for my 2009 F-250 crew cab. one guy told me ,use a box behind the rear seat with 2 10" kickers . He says I can only get a shallow sub. and the sound quality is limited . I dont know what to get. I like quality sound, not that jungle , distorted bass. Please help.
If you look in my gallery you can find a pic of my Kicker 10" sub behind the rear seat. It's not pretty, had to cut the carpet and sound deadener to get it to fit. Sounds very good though.
I would reccomend a box that goes under the rear seat so it can be ported to create a bandpass box. The bandpass will give clear bass with low OHM levels. MTX makes thunderforms specifically deaigned to fit in the superduty unde the rear seat without looking gypsy. The boxes that go behind the seat work well, but can't move enough air to really hit. Just my .02
I seen a 08 the other day that they made the console into the sub box. Obviously the console wouldnt hold anything else anymore, but it looks very clean when done properly. He had 1 12" JL W3 in the console facing backwards plus many other goodys, it sounded really good.
i have a box i built custom. you can make it thin to fit behind the seat but you need to make it longer. as long as you have the right cubik ft of air in the box your good. i built mine ported with one JL 10 inch and 250 watts of power and its so bad you cant breath with the windows down. its got way more base than my buddies ranger with two 12 alpine r12's with a closed box and 1000 watts. its all in the set up of the box to the sub and just the right watts to the sub.
I have been out of the stereo game for a good ten years now, however back in the day in my hopped up Toyota... I had a 2 10" Solobaric Kickers, in a sealed enclosure. This was by far the cleanest, tightest bass I have heard in my day. It didnt blow your back out like some bandpass setups. Think about the goals you are trying to achieve with your stereo and then it will be easier to pick equipment.
