August chat thread
when i came back from my jog.
i found some aholes screwing around with my tommy gate.
baseball bat's make people run even faster!
...maybe they need someone chasing down Olympic sprinters with bats to get them even faster!
I have absolutely no idea if that will actually work, though. lol
My truck actually did have a security system of sorts on it a couple years ago....if someone would have messed with it, it would have ran them over.
Because the parking pawl in the transmission was out of adjustment, and it would sometimes pop out of park. LOL

I also was once told by my dad that as a kid, he'd charge up an ignition coil and go around popping his friends with it.... :P
And lol
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I don't have that much trouble with it. I did come awful close to shorting to ground once when I was working on my truck....since then I've always put the battery in where the negative post is closest to the passenger-side fender. That way I'm less likely to shock the fool out of myself.
I had a guy at Sears tell me that the DieHard Platinum batteries they sell are "better than Optima". I then promptly recited the five years of problems it's been through, but he didn't seem to care too much....
I don't know anything about the Diehard batteries, and I don't have anything against them, but for the guy to make such a brazen statement, I couldn't take that sitting down! lol
And as for my other bad electricity habbits.... I had to replace every fuse in my topaz once. Don't remember what I did to cause that, but I thought it was hillarious.

around computers I don't have any problems though, which is good, because I love working on computers.
My Optima has been through several ~20F winters since I bought it, and you'd think it was starting in the middle of spring. The cold doesn't affect it at all.
Lol. Have you ever tried those little Smart Fuses, the ones that light up when they blow out? I've put some in my truck and in the family Cherokee, and there's been one occasion that one of these little guys brought it to my attention that my stop light switch on my truck had went out and blew the fuse. As soon as the brake was pressed, the fuse would light up.... :P
I enjoy working on computers too. Thing is, I'm of the mindset that CARS and COMPUTERS should remain separate. lol

I had the same security system...I was on a call one day when I watched my patrol car roll through an intersection without me in it
. I then did the only thing I could think of.......I jumped in front of the car to try to stop it! I saw my career flash before my eyes that day!As for batteries, I use Interstate blems in everything I have and have been happier than I was with my Optima - and for 25-30 bucks, you can not go wrong!
Well did ya get it stopped? Or is it still runnin' the beat by itself? :P
That's a great deal! I've never heard anything bad about Interstate....couldn't be bad if it's advertised across the hood of race cars!

I've had good experiences with Autozone batteries (Duralast brand) too. I actually traded in a behemoth of a Duralast battery from an '85 Cadillac De Ville (1000CA, 800CCA) for my Optima. It was barely used since we'd bought it not long before that, so I got a good amount when I traded it in. When all was said and done, I only had to pay like $69 for my Optima.
And btw, that Cadillac was a devil car. It's partly due to that car's shenanigans that I began to really dislike computer-controlled cars (that car had computer controls out the tailpipe). It did sound quite nice when the muffler rusted out though.
