Lube Question: Steering Linkage
Can anyone tell me what type of grease to use on the steering linkage, '02 SD. Is it ok to mix mine with whatever Ford used. I have an all purpose wtr resistant grease made by Polaris that I use on ATV's. Is this ok? Thanks.

It's probably fine. A steering linkage is not a specialty application. Water resistant grease is a good choice. If you want to be absolutely sure, look up the component lube specifications in the back of your owners manual. It will tell what to use and give the Ford specification number. Then find out if that grease meets Ford's spec's.

Lube Question: Steering Linkage
I've had really good luck with the mobil 1 synthetic grease. The boot on my tie rod got torn off almost a year ago now, and i've been greasing it with the mobil about once a month, and watching for wear, its still tight, after getting soaked, muddy, frozen over winter,,,I'll probably change the tie rod just so i don't have to worry about it, but it seems to work well.
