REGEN Game

2008 cc lb sw 250. Loaded with stuff pulling a 20' enclosed trailer with
a single family house stuff inside. Washer dryer BBQ etc.
I'm driving 2800 miles 50-60mph ok sometimes 75.
How many times did I regen? I have gone to the dealer 3 times
to be told no problem found.
How many you ask I'm at 2300 miles now and at 14 regen cycles.
Regens min 2 times per tank.
So all kidding aside that's something wrong correct?

I was going into regen 3 or 4 times in one tank of fuel, that's about every 50 or 60 mi, I took into the dealer and made them look at it closer, they found that the downpipe had a crack in it and was leaking exhaust into the cab, anyway I got that replaced and the truck went into regen 2 time in the first tank of fuel, I couldn't take it anymore so I installed the Spartan Tuner with the 210 tune and the DPF delete, it has been the best thing I have done, the truck is awsome now, it is how it should be, I would recommend getting rid of that piece of crap DPF filter and installing a Spartan Tuner, it's money well spent, oh yea, I am also getting 3 to 4 mi per gal better than before, that alone will pay for the tuner in 6 mo.

well most people it seems regen every 2 or 3 hundred miles unloaded. the higher egt's of towing should help you out on regens. however if you have been doing alot of city driving or stop and go it could do more often than that. so if your towing and getting i would assume about 300 miles to tank thats only a regen every 150 miles. also i've heard of alot of people really having to hassle and hassle a dealer to get their dpf replaced because it was plugged.

That is way too many in my experience. With city driving, mine regens about every tank and a half. With pure interstate driving, I usually go about 2-3 tanks per regen. On one recent long haul, I went 800+ miles between regens.

Hmm. I'm driving from Alaska to Oregon. One thing I have noticed is typicallly
it will say "cleaning exhaust filter" and 15-20 min later it goes out. Well twice when it was finished it said "exhaust filter drive complete" Once it said "drive to clean exhaust filter." I am getting about 300 miles a tank. In the US that's fine in Canada that sucks. Many many times I would be pulling in with "10 miles to e" displayed. I had 60 gallons spare fuel just in case.

it could also be depending on which job his truck is. mine is a job one and it was like that some job 2's and 3's and the 09's dont have the problems the first trucks did.

When I tow heavy (more than 10K) I will regen 4 times/tank on the highway. I get around 9 MPG with that load, so, about 250 miles/tank, so about a regen every 50-75 miles.

As stated by firefighter, high EGT's help us out with that load. I think the regens while towing are pretty short and use less fuel because the system is already hot and does not need to be heated up artificially.

When I unhook, regens return to normal. Maybe 1 per tank unloaded and the cycle is harder on the MPG's because it has to artificially make heat by using fuel.

With a "normal" tow load which I consider to be anything under 10K, regens can be 2 or 3 times/tank and still pretty good about MPG's as the system does not need to make heat.

Just drive your truck, keep it as hot as possible and you should be fine. I've been analyzing this and driving my truck for 2 years now and your situation as described does not raise any concern to me.

c dogg had a real problem and it was obvious to some of us right off the bat. You COULD have a problem but it's too early to tell and we need more symptoms.

Good luck and be safe out there!

I have never seen "exhaust filter drive complete?" "cleaning exhaust filter" is usually once per tank unloaded, I have noticed it regen's more often now when pulling the quads and camper on than it used to?

unloaded usually somewhere around 300 miles, loaded heavy maybe once per tank.

But like said above I drive it hard so that helps. I also think that some trucks just run differently.

like senix said some trucks run differently, thats what i was getting at about the job 1's my buddy and i both have job 1's and they drive and act alot different than some of the others we talk to and research. they act differently with programmers and other add on's. I've also learned that even the programs that are in the trucks computers are different between the job's things that even the "reflashes" wont fix. if i knew then what i know now i woulda waited and found a job 3.

I'm thinking of adding a F350 6.4 to my arsenal. I'm in Colorado and wondering if the DPF delete will affect passing emmisions testing here.
