Yep, I knew all that. Lol,my Dad has a 08 superduty. When we head out on out wheelin trips pickup/trailer and load was 31,000 + pounds. Didn't have a issure runnin 70 mph down the hwy. But with that, it was gettin 6 mpg. And the regen kicked in every 150-200 miles.
Cali is makin it mandetory for ANY year semi to have a DPF on it. I don't remember what year that goes into affect. But its BS.
id like to see em try...how you gonna put a DPF on a truck that doesnt have one? unless cali is prepared to replace pretty much every component of the engine/exhaust it aint happening...i swear if cali keeps up with this **** the drivers are gonna park their trucks and stop anything in or out of cali and then maybe they will smarten the **** up...once they have nothing.

DPF isn't ALWAYS running - but it does do it automatically every ~300 miles or so and if you don't drive on the highway a lot (short drives) it's going to get stuc in the regen mode until it can run long enough to finish meaning you're fuel mileage will suck the big one.
Upside is you can delete the whole thing and get your computer reprogrammed for a few huundys maybe a k.
exactly...for the most part these trucks are in constant regen...and either way you shouldnt need to take the cab of to make an engine job easier...stupid, fords engineers need to get their heads out of their asses...it may take a tech 1/2 hour to get a cab of...but then 1/2 to get it back on thats an hour of wasted labor that could be avoided if it were for stupid engineers...they should make it law that engineers need to have at least 5 years as licenced mechanics

that must be nice...does you dad own his rig? who does he pull for?
No. The engineers made it easier by making the cab pulling easier to do. The techs were pulling cabs on 6.0s to make the work easier and ford engineers gave them a bunch of quick connects on the cab mounts and wiring stuff so pulling the cab is cake.
Yep, he owns his own rig, hauls for a company out of Westfargo..... He said, if Cali goes through with that dpf crap, he will forget where Cali is. Lol. There is a company that already has add on dPfs for trucks... I don't remember the name off hand..... I'll try n find it again.

yeah but i dont understand why they gotta make the engines such a clusterf*** of crap...i mean (forgive me for saying this) but look at the newer chevys and dodges **** they arent much worse than the first EFI trucks were as far as complexity and wiring and crap then look at fords...like what the hell do they really need all that **** for i bet they could do away with half of it and not have any problems
