transmission problem f150
Thanks in advance, 2001 super crew, 4x4 ,4.6 ,4r70w trans, 6500 gvw.130k. I tried the search on transmissions forum with no luck( its me) My truck shifts 1st and 2nd fine, goes into 3rd and acts like neutral,I would rev it up and it would shift into 3rd then 4th . now it stays in 2nd . and if shifting into 3rd it revs .would it be the pcm ? I was going to replace the vss , but checking the voltage to the vss I get 0, Haynes book said 5 volts at sender, ( if I'm doing it right)
I changed the fluid and filter not the converter , fluid didn't smell burned and bottom of pan was clean. Two mounths ago the o/d was acting up
the light was flashing, towing a boat, but that went away , if that helps
obd2 tester do not show a code. thanks again

Could be the direct clutch is gone,could also be the stub shaft that drives the direct clutch broken.Could be any number of things. If the OD light was blinking,it set a code. Whether your OBDII scanner will see it or not is another story.

To add, I used snap on scaner, it showed no codes, watching the scan while driving 1st and 2nd shift selnoid showed on but not for 3rd ,it acted like neutral , if I set the o/d button on, the trans stayed in 2nd

the two trans shops said just rebuild it , another also said the stub shaft.
I got a ford reman with 100k and 3 year warrentee parts and labor. thanks
