Yep, you can definitely pull some stumps with it as long as you have traction!

We used to get in to pissing matches of who truck can pull the biggest tree out. I was forever pulling paper trees with my 84 F250 and some were very big! Most chebys couldn't pull a tree half the size out!.

What type tree was it?

Down here in Florida, we pull out Paper trees(exotic, usless thing) Sometimes the root ball was bigger than yours(just took a few more tugs). But one day I was dared on pulling out a slash pine tree(about 6" dia). Well that tree has a tap root that goes to China! Couldn't pull it out but while tugging on it my friends said the rear end hopped up 3' off the ground! But I did strip all the bark and branches off once the chain pulled up on the trunk of the tree!! Got a dent in the tail gate from a branch flying off....brused ego to boot... But ole mr Dodge truck tried a 8" dia pine, Not sure what broke in his truck(had to get a flatbed in) at least I drove out!

I also was the "puller" of dead trucks out of the woods, many trucks were pulled by the Blue Mule! Can't beat a I6 with a granny gear!

That's the key - you get it to hook up and you'll do a lot of stump pulling with that thing.
