I'm hearing the best things about the performance setting. I'm using a 1705 on my F250 PSD and getting 19mpg in performance. If I'm feeling naughty I can smoke a camero
I've got a superchip 1715 laying around. Curious as to the performance(if any) are gained by using this chip in a V10? the v10 in question is a 99.
Thanks in advance.
It will help firm up the trans and lock the TQ up a little quicker but won't do too much. Canned tunes are very conservative.
What is a super chip?who makes it?i ve heard a few guys talking on the forum about it.i have a 2009 6.8 and would like to get better mpg.
Your much better off getting an SCT Xcal3 with custom tunes than going with the superchips tuner. There are a lot of junk tuners out there with half baked canned tunes in them. Best thing is you can get an X3 with custom tunes the way you want them for $400. If you want a tune for better mpg no problem. theres a big difference between a canned tune and a good custom tune. But don't expect much improvement in mpg for the V10 with a tuner, just a more responsive better performing truck.
Heres a link http://www.5startuning.com/index.html Mike sort of specializes in tuning the V10 and other modulars no matter what year they are. I'm running his tunes and hes a great guy to deal with. Runs special pricing on tuners also.
WHile a tuner can get the 'best' out of any engine, don't expect the gains on a gassr to be anywhere close to the gains touted for those dastardly deezles...
typically the gains (savings) are less than the cost of the unit for a gasser..... but YRMV and to each his own...
I still opted to get me one, if for nothing else other than the fun factor !!!
and take any mpg claims at what they are - marketing
I forgot to ask about warrety if i put one on.will ford still warrety the engine if i have any problems?
Yes, as long there is no reasonable evidence to conclude that the tune caused whatever problem you are experiencing. To cancel a warranty, the OEM has to be able to prove the mods/alterations/parts caused the problem. Even if they can, it does not cancel out the entire warranty, only for the parts the mod may effect.
Search for the Manguson-Moss Warranty Act, it will give you all the answers you seek.
