I am trying to take out the front dash bezel to access the back of the radio...no problems except I can't seem to figure out how to take off the ***** to the wiper switch and the headlights...whats the deal?

On the headlight **** you need to reach up under the dash and depress the button atop the headlight switch and pull the **** out with the shaft, on the wiper **** there's a little clip just behind the **** itself, push it inward and pull the **** off.

Warning:

Some trucks have already the wiper **** pulled off once (for a radio install or something). They usually didn't know there was a clip, so the clip breaks when they pulled it off with all their might.

The solution? Glue it back on. In that case, you have to cut the shaft off.

Thankfully my grandpa never took the dash apart, and he was the only owner before myself. I am sure glad I asked though because I saw myself pulling it off and breaking something. I NEVER would have found that crazy button. I gbot my hand up in there today and had a laugh at how well designed the Fords are, but also how complex they are compared to my 77 Jeep and 60's Scouts. I wanted to make sure to not break anything because my grandad took such nice care of my truck it is in pretty good shape even after ten years of my abuse.

Yeah, he was born in the early 20's. Bought the truck in 78 and handed it down to me in 2000.

Funny, I was 18 at the time, and I remember old dudes coming into the dealship and buying a basic custom, and wanting an extra 80 lb barrel of undercoating sprayed on. I guess they were anticapating it to be their last vehicle, and wanted it to last.

There's two other solutions. Buy new **** from Ford, or get a used one from a passenger car, truck or Bronco.

D3OZ17513B .. Wiper **** / Available from Ford.

MSRP: $33.14 // FTE sponsor: partsguyed.com price: $22.14.

Kinda expensive, so here's the other solution.

D3OZ17513B =

Fits: 1973/76 Torino/Merc Montego / 1974/80 Pinto/Merc Bobcat / 1974/76 Thunderbird / 1976/79 F100/350 / 1978/79 Bronco.

btw...Just in case you're wondering, according to the OP's profile he has a 1978 F250.
