Theres a little metal tab on the inside that is angled so that it will slide on but grabs in the off direction. You need to get something in there to push on the tab while pulling on the ****. I use a a hooked scribe or probe. Line up with the notch in the ****. You'll still need to pull on it pretty hard.
Just wanted to let you know that I got the **** of wit ha little help from my local Ford dealer:-) I just didn't have the right tool. All is good now as I have working wipers. Now onto the U-joints and leaky exhaust.
Maybe this will help. You have to depress the tab and pull the **** at the same time.
Might be a dead thread, but this is super helpful. That retaining "clip" inside the wiper ****, is it supposed to be glued to the inside of the ****? My **** just pulls off but the clip stays on the wiper stem. I have taken it off with needlenose, but as soon as I put my **** back on it just spins.
I would like to know the same thing. My old **** is in good shape but the clip just slides out. I have bought a few different ***** that all fit but do not look correct.
Would I be able to take the clip out of a new **** and maybe glue it to the old ****. I don't wanna spend 30$ on one but I like the correct look.
thanks

Most likely. Mine was just old and eventually rounded itself off to the point the **** would just spin. Should just be able to swap out that metal sleeve and have no issues!
