Jody at DP can reflash a PCM Some are running a PCM with one of his tunes on it. The only other option is a dealer reflash.

What year truck does your buddy have? Why did he want newer emissions? No reason to flash the PCM.

Sounds to me like the dealer owes him a free reflash.

Sounds like EVERY reflash Ford has ever done.

"he said it doesnt run the same now"

There are a few places that can reflash back to stock. However, the Ford Dealership is NOT one of them. The protocol used by Ford dealers does not allow a "burn-back" procedure. You get updated flashes ONLY.

I don't understand how Ford would think that flashing a 7.3 with a 6.0 flash would work on the truck. I also think they owe him another reflash.

Ford was probably still working on "updated" software for the 7.3s in '04 just because of customer-related concerns about driveability and whatnot.

Perhaps you're right Cody, but it makes me wonder because his truck is not running right.

Well it IS a Ford reflash. Haven't you heard the horror stories about the '03-'04 6.0L reflash musical chairs?

You cannot reflash a eec-v computer with a P-tech computer strategy. It's not even possible.

What I think has happened here is your friend doesn't like the new flash for the 7.3 because it drives diffferent now. This is common. Or he got a young tech who has no experience with the 7.3. I vote for both.

I took my '01 to the dealer after I broke a ring gear to have it replaced and the service manager told me that they flashed my PCM while they had it. I lost 3 mpg after the reflash and I didn't even ask for it. I went from 18.7 - 19.5 to 15.8 and can't do any better!!! The dealership will only touch my truck now if I'm with it or I may put a lock on the connector.
