Ok, I never post anything, but read this forum every couple of days and thought I would share my experience. I have a 2008 Ford F-250. I bought it new in March 2008, well, I did the usual that I do to all my trucks, chip, air intake, and exhaust (just from filter back). The truck was doing fine but after less than 1,000 miles the truck shut down and had to be towed in. Of course Ford blamed it on the chip and said I had to pull it off or they would void the warranty. So I took everything off except the air box. Well, about 9 months went by with no problem. Then the truck did the exact same thing again. Keep in mind it is all stock except for the air box. I took into ford and of course now it is the air boxes fault. So I took it off. Well, guess what, the truck shut down 2 more times. Now when I say shut down I mean completely down, wouldn't start. But I was told it could be the DPF filter in the exhaust by a friend that is a mechanic. I took my truck in and he was correct. The DPF filter was clogged, I have 28,000 miles on my truck now and the new filter was put on last weekend. It was covered under warranty. Anyway, the point I wanted to make, you don't have to chip this truck to have problems with the DPF, it will screw up on its own, it was covered under warranty, but its still a pain. Hope no one else has the same issues I have!!!!!
Yeah I have 3000 miles with some Dark grey or black. So I guess there is nothing to worry about? If you are at a dead stop and hit the gas hard is there kinda of a delay? Then about one or two seconds it then goes like a bat out of hell. Seems like my 6.0 didn't have the delay as much. Thanks
There have been several posts referring to cracked internals on the particulate filter but I don't recall anyone having a plugged one.
Mine is healthy and I am about to hit 100,000 miles. The technology is very young and you could be a rare case but the chip combined with your driving habits may have caused the issue
You are very lucky that your dealer gave you some slack there. They're not supposed to do that anymore.

That is why mine is sitting on a shelf in my garage. At least I only have to worry about it getting clogged with dust, haha. I do agree with what you are saying though, Ford likes to blame the tuners but I doubt they are the main cause most of the time.
well chipping the truck could have clogged the dpf beyond it being able to regen and fix itself. they damage from aggressive fueling by the tuner could have caused irreversible damage to the dpf. and i had 38K miles when my dpf came off and my tail pipes were clean as a whistle there shouldn't be much if any soot in them. taking that thing off my truck was the best move i ever made with it. you get rid of the cat/dpf that delay is all but gone too.
