Random Question on Truck Failure

Had a friend going from Arkansas to Texas and his 6.4 went into limp mode. Had to slowly wheel into a dealer's lot on a Sunday. He said he shut the truck off and then it would not restart (not real sure if that part was accurate, all this was second hand info). Not sure what year his truck is but he was just out of warranty with a little over 100k miles. When he got it back his wife said they had to change out a filter at the cost of $2600.00. Said it was same part that was changed earlier under a recall. I was thinking that it must have been the DPF. Was there a DPF recall on any of these trucks?

no dpf recalls. Sounds to me like an egr failure or an egt sensor.

Did you read you the paperwork? Did it list codes or anything.

I don't think you have enought info to say what the issue was.

No, just relayed word of mouth. I thought about EGR but would a failure there put you in limp mode? Don't know if engine light came o or not.
