EGR delete or not....

I am debating on whether or not to do the egr delete on my 04 f250....Alittle history about the truck. I bought it used with 120k on it. According to the "o" report the egr cooler and hpop where replaced at 88k. It has all the original injestors, head studs and such with no other problems besides the ficm and alternator going out. So i am at a deliema...Do i do the delete or leave it alone until something starts leaking???????????

If you are going to get a tuner, then I would say delete it. If not, then I would probably say leave it alone. It really is personal preference though.

I'm opting to do the ARP/EGR delete route instead of buying an extended warranty.

I'm spending the money to "fix" the problem instead of spending the money on an ESP to keep not fix, but to keep bandaiding.

My question is...

How do we keep the code from setting after the delete? Do we need a programmer for that?

I don't know.... some say you you need a tuner to turn it off, i guess i got lucky as i deleted my egr and never got a code, put 500 miles on it and no code.

With that many miles and the EGR cooler having been replaced, IMO, you are wasting your money installing the coolant filter. According to Ken Neal at Neal Technologies, who upgrades EGR coolers, unless you install the coolant filter when the truck is fairly new, you are wasting your money. I installed a coolant filter on my X at 40,000 miles but the damage had already been done to the EGR cooler. When Ken upgraded my EGR cooler at 77,000 miles, he sent me a picture of it after it had been cut open. It was clogged with debris. When I changed the coolant filter the first time, I cut it open and found very little debris. Other guys have found a lot of debris. FWIW.
