Hey guys i am in the mood to buy some gauges (pyro, trans temp, boost) for my rig and i was looking at some brands , auto meter z-series complete gauge kit 7072 http://www.xtremediesel.com/automete...gekit7072.aspx and glow shift off of ebay.. are they all pretty much the same? or do i need stay away from the cheaper stuff like the $200 kit on ebay? any opinions are appreciated, thanks for the time.
Stay away from the Glow Shift gauges. Spend the money one and get a quality product! I prefer Isspro gauges myself, and Clay (Riffraff Performance) is a sponsor here and can probably get you the best deal.
do you know anything about the auto meter brand cuz i dont have a whole lot of money to spend and im tryin to save a lil cash on the side possibly for the dp tuner also..
Keep in mind you get what you pay for. You will get a lot of different opinions on this subject. I myself have the DiPricol Optix setup. I love the way they look and the way they work. I have 2 gauges mounted over my rear view mirror.

The bad thing with DiPricol right now is that the company is very shaky and may end up going under. They make a nice product, but getting parts and support if you have a problem in the future may be difficult.
I've heard that before, but nothing but word of mouth. Is there anything out there in writing Chase? Last I looked, you can still get everything! And I *really* like mine...

I've seen nothing in writing Joe, just word of mouth like you said. Hey, I read it on the internet, it must be true! Hopefully it is just rumors as they do have a really nice product.
EDIT- FWIW I just did a web search and had a hard time coming up with anything that wasn't someone selling the gauges. Even their home page is very basic with almost no info on the company at all.
what is the most common thing to go out on gauges?? backlights or the hoses/wiring? or just everything?
I don't know -- mine have been in for about 2 1/2 years now without a single hiccup. BTW, DiPricols are backlit with LEDs. Not even any light bulbs to go out!
Here's what mine look like -- they match the stock cluster perfectly:
so on a scale of 1-10 on pain in the butt, how hard is it to put in the pyrometer? or will the trans temp be a pain too?
Installing the probe is about a 3 if 1 is not painful and 10 is ultra painful. And I only went as high as 3 if you have to lay in the gravel of your driveway to do it like I did Trans temp sender is easy sleazy.
