so on a scale of 1-10 on pain in the butt, how hard is it to put in the pyrometer? or will the trans temp be a pain too?
Pyro isn't too bad. If you've never tapped before, you might practice on a piece of scrap first. The key is a nice sharp drill bit for the hole. You can step up in sizes too if you're drilling the manifold. I put mine in the up-pipe and it was pretty easy. I didn't want to worry about cracking the manifold.
To tap, start the tap in the, back it out. Add some more lube, an run it in a little further. Repeat until you get to the depth you want. If you do the up-pipe, don't run the tap all the way in. NPT taps are tapered, so once you get in about half way, start trial fitting the adapter. If you go too far, it'll won't tighten correctly and could leak. Here's what mine looks like:
alrighty...i'll check out both approachs, my dads been a machinist for 30+ years im sure he will be able to tell me if it would need lube or not, if i can get him to look at it it would be worth the "but do what you want" i will probly get haha
Like was mentioned above, I ordered my gauge KIT from Dieselmanor, they have everything in the kit, everything, no running to the hardware store. Most do-it-yourself guys that install gauges, never installed them before like me, so its imperative that you have great instructions and all the parts nessesary to get the job done. Cheaper might be better but do you get all the parts for a complete install!!!

I'm with you Mike, the Diesel Manor kit and instructions are very complete. That's the kit I used also- I found mine in the FTE classifieds, had never been installed and I got the whole kit for $300 shipped The wiring connector kit was missing, so I called Diesel Manor and they sent me another kit at no charge, and let me swap paint colors for just the cost of shipping. I've even used some of the leftover wiring connectors from my gauge install kit on later installs.
Clay's the Man! Check out the NW Tech Day, you'll even see a picture of him. I just bought a set of the ISSPRO EV2's from him, love the LED back light! I would post pics, but my camera is in Oregon...........
hope i dont sound stupid guys but... who is clay and if i wanted to ask him how do i go abouts doin that?
Just say my name and I am here. Give me a call or PM and I will get you some options. I prefer Isspro, but Autometer is good as well. I would stay away from Glow Shift and the rumors with Dipricol are true. After waiting months for product to fill orders and build stock I decided to drop their line. The product is made in India so that brings up some logistical issues. I prefer Made in the USA when possible and when its a good product. Let me know, Thanks

x2, good info to know! Now if only there was a trade-in program to upgrade to Performax gauges
