Well My window squeeks really bad so today I took of the door panel and I think the noise is coming from the two bars that have the clips that hold the window on the track. I tried spraying some wd40 on it and no luck still squeeks. Then I tried some wax and that didnt work and my buddy came over and said try some greese on the track and that didnt work. Anyone else have this problem and what did they use to fix the problem and was it them clips that were squeeking.
It dont squeek as bad going down as it does coming up now since I put grease, wax, and wd40 on it. Is it the cables that make the squeek or is it the clips that go along the track. Its hard to pin point the cause.
my squek was the cable unraveling and breaking. be careful putting your hand behind the door. if the cable is frayed you will, like me, get a hand full of wire.
When I had the door apart today I didnt see any part of the cable fraying but couldnt tell when the window was all the way up. I will have to take it apart one day again.
Strange, are you sure it's not the window sweep making the noise. As seals dry up they can slow a window down and also make noises. If it is the window sweep you can either buy a new one if it's dried out or silicone spray it and the window will glide easier. You can also spray the run channels up inside the window frame.
Have had a similar problem since new, so I doubt it is the seal. It is way worse in warmer weather (>80-85F). Tried lubing a long time back with no progress. Here is a recent thread that may be of use. I plan to try to suggestions soon. good luck, and keep us posted on your progress (I may need to know).
Well I dont think its the seals. Cause it goes up like when I bought it and keeps up with the passanger window. When I had the door panel off it sounded like it was coming from the track or whatever. It was 67 today and no noise. The other day it was 75 and it didnt make it to bad. So either its the heat like said making the noise or finally the grease/wd40/wax finally kicked in. We will see when it warms up some more.
Sure would like to see what the solution to this is; my window squeals as well going up (and down I think). Of course it's just the drivers side since it gets the most use. I recently had to change the window switches cluster too, but that was another problem...
Well, I finally got around to making this repair. For each of my four doors, I removed the interior panels and pulled back the plastic liners, then sprayed the OD of the three plastic pulleys (where the cable rides) with PB BLaster Garage Door Lube. The noise is GONE! Hallelujah! The only question now is how long this will last before I have to lube again. I also applied some white lithiun to the track edges where the window glides slide just as an added measure.
If it ever warms back up and does it again I will have to do it. Lately its been cold and no noise. I sprayed all the pulleys and the track with wd40 which I thought would have fixed my problem. I will have to try the PB Blaster Garage door lube if it happens again.
