I have another coil spring related question! (to those who followed my last thread).
I ordered in a set of regular F-350 2wd springs for my 95 F-150 4x4. The last set I ordered was the F-350 severe duty and they did not fit. I am hoping the new springs will be in tomorrow and will fit.
Anyway, I have another problem I'm not sure how to fix. My coil spring towers are rusty and I thought I would see how long they would hold. Well they didn't last long, one cracked and I'm not sure where to find a pair. I am from Canada and the only place I can find a pair is at the dealer for $340 plus tax. Keep in mind if I shipped them from Broncograveyard.com would be more than the dealer price with shipping. I'm not sure what to do, that is expensive on top of all my other repairs. Any suggestions would be appreciated, but I'd say I have to go with the dealer around here.
You say that the severe duty springs did not fit: In what way? too tall? too large of a diameter? Either way, you may need to upgrade your spring towers as well. I was not aware of there being a difference in the towers from F150 to F350 (except for the 250/350 4WDs). However, if so this would be a needed change anyway. Have you tried any salvage yards in your area? Certainly there are parts yards there in Canada! Should you find a serviceable set you may want to clean them and properly protect them with a POR 15 or other suitable product.

Yes, there certainly are lots of parts yards, but the trouble is most trucks are rusted worse than mine. There are many 92-96 trucks rusted out beyond repair around here. Broken frames are common. My truck "survived" because the original owner was a farmer so the truck saw more mud than road salt. The roads in rural areas are sanded instead of salted, which helps as well.
I'm not sure why you want the front that stiff if the rear isn't. Are you running a plow or something on the front? Even if the rear is lifted it will still ride and handle badly. Why not F250 springs or just 1-2 inch lift springs from Superlift or Rough Country or Tuff Country. Also if you go more than 2 inches you will never be able to get it aligned without axle pivot and radius arm drop brackets.
