Which is gooder(better)?

Brief history:
Bought a 77 f150 with factory 460 c6
Had sit for 8 years.
bad exhaust leak between manifold and head.
broken bolts
pulled heads
drilled out 6 bolts; 5 on one, one on the other
cleaned inspected, think they are good as is
In process of reinstalling.

I bought a intake gasket set and a intake manifold heat shield.

Question no.1

Do I use the intake gaskets AND heatshield? ( gut says no)

no.2 If not which is better and why?

I preciate your help, especially with my last thread about the exhaust manifold bolts. candle wax was an interesting idea.

In my case there was nothing else I could do but pull the heads and drill them out. Didn't want to at the time but feel gooder now that that part is over.

in theory using the tin pan is suppose to keep the hot oil from splashing onto the underside of the manifold keeping the intake charge cooler for more power.
does it work. hard to say since after awhile, everything is going to heat up to the same temp anyways. also you have the exhaust crossover going right under the intake plenum anyways and exhaust gas is a lot hotter then the oil, so kinda of a moot point in my opinion. unless you also block off the crossover also.

will it hurt anything to use it, no, just as long as you position it properly and seal it so it doesn't cause any leaks. so up to you if you want to use it or not.

i keep on forgetting to put mine on when i redid the intake gaskets.

Actually, I thought the valley pan was there to keep oil from baking to the underside of the intake at the exhaust crossover

other than that. . .i have no idea, to tired to think
