I have a 99 cab and a half short bed 5.4 front disc and rear drum brakes. I never had this issue before so looking for some that have. when i hit the brakes you can hear the abs working, but no reason for it to. brake ped is hard and on very top and basically will not let me stop. where do i start. thanks
First off, do you have 4 wheel abs? If not, then it's because your back shoes are set too tight and that's where the abs kicks in for only the rear brakes. That's what I've seen with my truck but the techs here more than likely have a more technical answer for you
I have the same problem but mine is 4wheel disc. Did you find an answer before you traded it? If I go over a bump, the next time I hit the brakes it feels like the abs kicks in. It doesnt matter if I hit the brakes a few minutes after going through the bumps. The peddle will go soft like it does in abs mode and I can feel it pulsate. It will some times do it after traveling for 10 or more miles down a highway. The bad thing is that it doesnt do it all the time.
no i didnt, i figured new calipers, rotors and everything else was more than it was worth and 10-4 on the abs always seemed to be engaged. i sure am glad i got the 07, should have traded a year ago as the value really dropped the last year. now i can't wait for snow as this is the 1st 4x4 i have ever owned. if you find out let me know what the main culprit was please.
