083 - 08 - This should always be letters, not numbers. 3 - Flareside pickup
J - Ford C4 automatic transmission
11X - Dana 44 rear end with a 2.72 ratio. There is no "X" after 11. Closest match is "K" - with roll bar and power steering.

That's the buck tag. These codes were for assembly workers so they can be sure they are putting the correct stuff in. I don't have stuff to decode that one.
So the 083 should be letters? 3 is the only part that makes sense.. it states that its a flareside pickup.. correct.
Now.. its suppose to have a dana44 rear not a 9" ? It looks like a 9" is in it. ... and its suppose to have a roll bar.. I know a roll bar to be the kind in the back of a truck to prevent the occupants from being injured.. Are we talking about the same thing? But then again I have heard the sway bar refered to as a roll bar.
Let me know when you get a chance.
Thanks again for the help..
Yes, they should be letters. Read again. There are no numbers, only letters.
That's what the parts catalog says. If it does have a 9", it was swapped in.
