i have a 67 ranchero and according to the axle code it is a 3.00 to 1 ratio EQUA-LOCK rear what is an equa lock and is this desirable?? rare?? i also have the three speed manual
any update to this thread?
I have recently got a rare equa-lock differential and I am not real sure of its pros and cons. from what I found its the early version limited slip used during the 60's before traction lock. it has 5 tabs on the clutch discs and it has one large pressure spring instead of 4 small ones. what would be it limitations? will it handle 400hp? what about replacement parts?
I am not sure how much HP the equa locs can handle but I hear finding clucthes for them is difficult and god for bid you need any replacement parts. I would try to move the equa loc to a mustnag owner that wants a factory correct piece in his car and buy a trac loc.
