Front End Rattle 2
Posted the other day about rattling in the front end area when passing over bumps and an annoying front end vibration that would come and then go. I took the left front hub apart and found the needle bearing completely dry and basically siezed, I think that this was the cause of the vibration. It ruined the shaft which my auto parts guy is telling me is $ 630 from Ford. Sounds crazy.The rattling is being caused by the manual locking hubs which if shaken can be heard to rattle. Is there a rebuild for these? The right front hub was in perfect condition but the manual locking hub also rattled. The cause of the failure of the needle bearing was the nuckle seal crapped out. I had to return the set of unopened $ 920 hubs which my auto parts guy special ordered from the warehouse he was not happy. I do not know if he is gouging me on the price of the shaft for that I told him that I would pay any restocking fees that there might be. Any ideas. 99 F250 S/D 4X4 V10 with a production date 2/99
